Universally acclaimed as the Best Play of the 2017 Broadway season, A Doll’s House, Part 2, is a contemporary sort-of-sequel to Ibsen’s A Doll’s House, crackling with razor-sharp humor and intelligence relevant to today’s audience.

Smart, suspenseful, moving, and funny, A Doll’s House, PART 2 begins with a knock on the front door.  Fifteen years earlier, unhappy with her husband’s failure to regard her as a complex person, Nora famously slammed this door behind her, leaving her family to pursue her own happiness.  Now, she returns for reasons unknown.  But is everyone happy to see her?

A Doll's House by Henrik Ibsen - About the play

A Doll’s House, Part 2 is a contemporary sort-of-sequel to Henrik Ibsen’s famous play, A Doll’s House. Although knowing the original plot isn’t necessary to enjoy or understand this show - here’s a summary.

THE PLOT Of PART ONE

A Doll's House by Henrik Ibsen

Nora is a typical 1879 housewife and mother, dependent on her husband for everything. When her husband becomes ill, Nora breaks the law for the sake of love, and forges her name on a loan, so they can have the resources needed for her husband’s recovery. When this illegal secret is revealed to her husband, his judgmental reaction to the news awakens in Nora an awareness of the illusions on which her life and marriage are built, and she boldly leaves her home, famously slamming the door behind her, to create a new life on her own.
