A great show for children May 20th at The Public Theatre

May 8, 2012

In their tradition of producing high quality professional theatre at an affordable price, The Public Theatre is presenting the Crabgrass Puppet Theatre’s award-winning production of Anasi: SPIDERMAN of Africa on Sunday May 20th at 2pm. Perfect for children ages 4-9, this side-splitting selection of famous folktales from Africa starring Anansi the Spider is only $5 for children 18 years of age and under and $10 for adults. For parents and grandparents looking for a fun and affordable experience to share with their children, this is it.

Anansi is one of the classic trickster characters in world folklore. These comical folktales feature a dynamic blend of African design, infectious music and fabulous puppetry. Entertaining and instructive, see how the spider learns thru a series of hilarious mishaps, not to put his own desires ahead of the needs of his community.

This production of Anansi, Spiderman of Africa was awarded the 2000-2001 Citation of Excellence, the highest honor in American puppetry. Students, teachers, and audience members have rated this production as AWESOME! And with a ticket price of only $5 per child it’s “awesome” on every level.

Anasi: SPIDERMAN of Africa will be performed on Sunday, May 20 at 2pm at The Public Theatre, Lewiston/Auburn’s Professional Theatre. All children 4-18 years of age are only $5! For tickets or more information call 782-3200 or visit www.thepublictheatre.org.
