Volunteering
As a not-for-profit organization, The Public Theatre employs an artistic and administrative staff that depends on the support of a core of volunteers. Volunteer opportunities for you:
Work on a Show
Hanging Posters
The Public Theatre has several established poster routes available throughout central Maine. Volunteers receive a predetermined number of complimentary tickets for each poster route.
Ushering & Concessions
Ushering and concessions are performed by organized volunteer teams. You can join a regular team, or offer your assistance as a "fill in" team member. Team participants get to see that show's performance for free.
Backstage Crew
The run of a show is approximately a 2 week commitment. You are required to be at all dress rehearsals and performances.
Join a Committee
Bulk Mailing Committee
A mailing committee meets several times each season to mail out postcards for each production. Mailings generally happen during the daytime and take about a 2-3 hour block of time.
Silent Auction Committee
The Silent Auction is a major fund-raising event each spring. The solicitation, item pick-up and set up of the auction are a few of the tasks this committee performs.
Education Committee
This committee discusses TPT's educational programming and explores ways of raising awareness of the Student Matinee Program.
Individual Fundraising Committee
This committee explores ways to grow the individual financial support from individuals as well as brainstorming fundraising ideas.
