Give your students one of the most powerful and unique experiences they will ever have in a theatre!
This critically acclaimed Off-Broadway hit is a funny, moving and unforgettable story told with the help of the audience in the most surprising, delightful and non-intimidating interactive way. If you have ever written a “gratitude list” you must see this play.
When a woman goes into the hospital because she finds it “hard to be happy”, her 7-year-old daughter starts writing her a list of all the brilliant things in life worth living for. No. 1: “Ice cream”, No. 25: “Wearing a cape”, No. 317: “The even numbered Star Trek films”. As the girl grows older, her list grows longer, reminding her of all the large and small miracles in her own life.

Every Brilliant Thing is an interactive play where the audience participates in helping the actress to tell the story. Your class can sit on the stage!
Before the show begins, the actress will identify and chat with multiple audience members giving then slips of paper with “brilliant things” to read aloud when she calls their corresponding number. Other audience members may also be asked to interact within the context of the story with strong guidance from the actress.
Participation will be sought from audience members sitting both on the stage and in the traditional theatre seats. The powerful impact this play makes is created by the true community that is built to tell the story.
Content Advisory:
This play addresses how a young child was influenced by the mental health challenges of their mother and how this later played out in their own life. Although this play mentions depression and suicide, it also focuses on the ultimate and uplifting healing path the child needed to take to unravel the mystery and mastery of their own happiness as an adult.

The show and his performance at Barrow Street Theatre in New York was made into a film for HBO.
His comedy act Jonny and the Baptists (alongside his other friend Paddy Gervers) tour regularly throughout Britain and the rest of the world.
