Red Herring
Brian Louis Hoffman, Neal Hemphill, Amanda Rose Rowan & Sheila Stasack
2003-2004 Season
The 1950’s Cold War spoof Red Herring had one of our all-time favorite jokes: “How do you make a stiff drink? Feed him salty snacks.” At every performance, the actors backstage would gather to listen to the audience’s delayed reaction to the joke. After the punchline was delivered, the actors onstage would bravely hold their reaction in silence until one person in the audience would finally get the joke and start to laugh. Every night the reaction would start with an awkward silence, then a chuckle from a few people, and soon become a fabulous long rolling belly laugh.
