Driving Miss Daisy
Jayne Heller & Lawrence James
1993-1994 Season
Christopher is hired as the Artistic Director. He pays his own way from New York to Maine to interview for the job and becomes the only full-time paid staff position. Janet advises him, “Don’t worry about what the theatre is now. Look at the support of the board and the community and dream about what the theatre can become”. He and Janet give up their careers in New York and move to Maine, officially turning the theatre into a professional Equity theatre.
When Janet’s not acting, she stage manages the shows so that she can earn enough Equity weeks of work to keep she and Christopher on her health insurance. Christopher decides the theatre needs a holiday show and creates his own version of A Christmas Carol.
